Denali worked with founder of High Altitude Harvest, Elizabeth Powell, who a decade ago, was a farm intern herself.  Denali learned the process of sustainable agriculture including composting, planting, harvesting and connecting to local communities. “I realized how much labor goes into creating food,” she confesses after a 50 hours spent on the farm. “The experience made me feel part of a bigger system.”

Denali’s main take-aways:
  • Appreciation for food
  • Connection to community
  • Necessity for environmental stewards

“After this experience I an thinking of becoming an activist and spreading the love of small agriculture.” Denali Hill
“The experience of working on a farm really seemed to have a big impact on Denali and her understanding of food systems.  That’s very gratifying, to see her get excited and to pass along an experience similar to those I had volunteering on my first farms.”
